In April 2001 the Stena FORWARDER freight and passenger ship replaced the Stena Challenger on the Holyhead to Dublin route.
The FORWARDER was chartered from the Italian Visentini Group and is capable of speeds up to 24 Knots, cutting the Stena Challenger's Irish Sea crossing time by 45 minutes. Mr. Vic Goodwin, Stena Line's Route Director said of the newest addition to Stena's fleet:-
"The Stena Forwarder will provide greater capacity, enabling us to handle higher volume of freight and tourist traffic. This major investment puts us in a great position to enhance our status as market leader and to take advantage of the
anticipated growth in the market due to the combined buoyant Irish economy."
He also said "We are delighted to have secured this ship which will provide a much needed boost to both freight, coach and passenger capacity, shorten journey times and
improve the quality of service to our customers. This major investment emphasises Stena Line's commitment to
strengthening the links between Ireland, the UK and
