SOUTH STACK Lighthouse was build in 1809, and is a very popular tourist attraction.  There are approximately 365 steps down, and after crossing a small suspension bridge you will reach the island.  Behind the lighthouse is a nature reserve - a breeding ground for beautiful birds such as Puffins, Choughs, Guillemots and lots more.
The RSPB visitor centre at Ellin's tower has an observation room which is open during the summer. Meals and light refreshments are available in South Stack Cafe.

PENRHOS COASTAL PARK is the ideal place to go if you enjoy walking through natural woodland - it is an ideal picnic area, and you can visit the Toll House (which served the A5 - the road link from HOLYHEAD to London which was opened in 1826) which has been converted into a lovely Cafe. The park is owned by A.A.M. Ltd.

BREAKWATER COUNTRY PARK is situated at the foot of Holyhead mountain.  Follow the sign posts to the Holyhead quarry which supplied the 2.4 mile-long breakwater with the building stone.      BREAKWATER HISTORY - click here!
