NEWRY BEACH in HOLYHEAD is just minutes from the shopping centre, and the Port/Train station.  It is a very pretty beach and promenade and in this area each year the HOLY ISLAND FESTIVAL takes place. HOLYHEAD Breakwater can be seen from Newry Beach, and at 2.4 miles long can boast to be the longest in the United Kingdom.  The middle photograph above shows the waves crashing against the breakwater during a very windy winter!  The photograph on the right was taken from the breakwater and shows a view of  HOLYHEAD mountain. Visit the Breakwater Country Park - and see how over 28 years - the Breakwater was built!

The CENOTAPH War Memorial - situated on the A5 in HOLYHEAD close to the shopping area.  It  stands to mark the respect to all who lost their lives whilst fighting for their country during past and recent wars.
