Holyhead Sea Cadets

Holyhead Sea Cadets are now 2,500 closer to re-building their collection of boats thanks to the generosity of BAE Systems, said Mrs Gill Williams, Treasurer of the Cadets.Receiving the donation at the Newry Beach Sea Cadet Unit, Chair Mrs Ann Kennedy said, It is these generous donations by companies like BAE Systems that allow us to continue our work at the heart of a hard-put-upon community. These young people are our future and a wonderful example of the towns best. We owe them the very best chances Mrs Angela Owen, who presented the cheque to the Sea Cadets on behalf of BAE Systems, said, BAE Systems is an employer of Anglesey people at RAF Valley and is fully committed to being part of the Island community. Supporting valuable and important community groups such as the Holyhead Sea Cadets is a solid expression of that commitment.Lt Sue Williams the Cadets'commanding officer said, This money will now allow us to buy a safety boat. A safety boat will guarantee that the cadets can go out training on the water and having fun in boats as often as opportunity presents. This is excellent news for the future of Holyhead Sea Cadets, which will be celebrating their 70th birthday in 2012,which isn't all that far away now. There is a new positive energy and urgency about the Unit and the cadets are looking forward eagerly to the Summer and splashing about with a purpose, naturally.
