WILKINSON SETS THE DATE FOR LOCAL STORE REBRAND

Wilkinsons, the home and garden retailer situated on the Penrhos Industrial Estate in Holyhead, is set for a makeover this month as part of the companys nationwide initiative to invest in local towns and refresh existing stores throughout the UK. The Holyhead store will close its doors at 6pm on Tuesday 1st June, and unveil a new look to the public on Thursday 3rd June at 9:00am. To mark the occasion, Captain Brian McCleery, Harbour Master at The Port of Holyhead will officially re-open the store with a ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside store manager, Keith Peers.During the re-opening celebrations, staff will be handing out sweets and balloons throughout the day and volunteers from Anthony Nolan, Wilkinsons nominated charity of the year, will also hold a charity raffle. Customers will be able to win a jam packed hamper, which will include a wide range of high quality, everyday goods. Keith Peers, store manager, explained: We are looking forward to the Holyhead store receiving a fresh new look, creating a brighter shopping environment, while maintaining the same great low prices and fantastic bargains we are famous for.

The celebrations will continue on Saturday 5th June when children will be entertained by a face painter, who will be in store between 10am and 4pm. With its wide selection of high quality, low-priced everyday products, including kitchenwares, housewares, DIY and seasonal goods, Wilkinson in Holyhead will remain the local, trusted high street retailer it always has been. Holyhead Sea Cadets

Holyhead Sea Cadets are now 2,500 closer to re-building their collection of boats thanks to the generosity of BAE Systems,said Mrs Gill Williams, Treasurer of the Cadets.Receiving the donation at the Newry Beach Sea Cadet Unit, Chair Mrs Ann Kennedy said, It is these generous donations by companies like BAE Systems that allow us to continue our work at the heart of a hard-put-upon community.These young people are our future and a wonderful example of the towns best. We owe them the very best chances Mrs Angela Owen, who presented the cheque to the Sea Cadets on behalf of BAE Systems, said, BAE Systems is an employer of Anglesey people at RAF Valley and is fully committed to being part of the Island community. Supporting valuable and important community groups such as the Holyhead Sea Cadets is a solid expression of that commitment.Lt Sue Williams the Cadets'commanding officer said, This money will now allow us to buy a safety boat. A safety boat will guarantee that the cadets can go out training on the water and having fun in boats as often as opportunity presents.This is excellent news for the future of Holyhead Sea Cadets,which will be celebrating their 70th birthday in 2012,which isn't all that far away now.There is a new positive energy and urgency about the Unit and the cadets are looking forward eagerly to the Summer and splashing about with a purpose,naturally.
